Well, ever since I got my iBook I’ve not been sure if I should put some stickers on it. I’ve got all the stickers right here, so what do you think I should do becausr I could go both ways.

No stickers… keep it clean and pure.

That’s the way Steve intended it. I also hear that he gives a lot of money to charity.

Have fun with it, Patrick. Some people like to keep their laptops looking brand new, and some people like to, umm, personalize ‘em a little bit. It’s your call–whatever you prefer.
January 17, 2006 at 11:33 am
Sticker it Patrick. Show off who you are. Be picky about your sticker choices. Really cool stickers, not dumb stickers.
January 17, 2006 at 2:13 pm
I’ve had mine for over a year without stickers on it. But now that it’s got some battle scars that aren’t exactly pretty I’m considering putting a few stickers on. Questions is, which ones? I think that if you want to then go ahead, sticker it, but be warned, they don’t easily come off after the first 5 or so seconds.

I say no on stickers…Apple products should remain as pure as possible. I also would suggest that in about 2 years or so, you will want a newer mac, especially since they are going Intel….Apple’s resell value on eBay is VERY high…but if it is all stickered up, you aren’t going to hardly get anything for it.
January 19, 2006 at 2:04 pm
Sticker it. You can get them off with some solvent or something when it comes time to sell it or give it away. I’d sticker mine, but dang, I can’t figure out the perfect sticker. That’s why I’ll never get a tattoo – i’ll never be able to decide which one to get.

That is exactly my problem, Brian. With the tattoo and the stickers!

[...] Scoble and I will be on a panel together next week, so I was happy to learn that his blogging is a father-and-son thing: Scoble’s son Patrick blogs as Mini Scobleizer. So far, I’ve learned that Patrick is a Apple person. Among the questions Patrick poses is whether to sticker up your laptop. My answer? Well, here’s my laptop: [...]

The boyfriend used to have a laptop with stickers *all* over it. It fit him. Me? I’m way to anal and could never live with a sticker on my laptop. Go with whatever works for you.

I’d paint it! Normal house paint supposedly works cool and will help it stand out.

I sport a Apple sticker on my grey HP Pavilion laptop.. Mostly for the confusing remarks such as “eh, is that really an iBook?”.. :-p
February 28, 2006 at 9:45 pm
I repainted my iBook about 7 months ago. If you have a first-gen white iBook, the case is actually clear, and painted white on the inside (newer iBooks are encased in solid white plastic). If you remove the case and soak it – the case, not the laptop – overnight in rubbing alcohol, you can wash off the white paint pretty easily. Then you can re-paint it any color you want. It’s pretty easily done in a weekend. My iBook is now an ivory off-white color, and the Apple logo is modded to glow pink.

Here in corporate America, it is officially forbidden to sticker up. Of course, every one does. There are over 500 identical laptops in this building. How are you supposed to keep them straight? We also tape a business card to the bottom of the laptop, and to the power supply. Helps make sure no one takes the wrong one after a meeting.

I’d do the paint and put stickers on after you paint it up. You could do camo and give it a military look or go flat black for the CIA stealth look. If you get sick of the stickers, throw another coat over them. Load it up!

Slap some duck tape all over the thing. It’s real cheap.
You can paint over the tape and put more tape on the painted duck tape and then put a few stickers on top of that.

I put a colored transparent film behind the glowing apple.
It’s not difficult if you have a minimum skill of do-it-yourself.
Here’s the article showing how to do that:
